Automated ticket number checks - effective from 11 May 2009

/ 0.0

British Airways runs automated checks to ensure that bookings are ticketed in accordance with applicable fare rules.

PNRs without ticket numbers may receive a message about the ticketing deadline via the queue. (But note that a message is only sent if there is time to do so before the time limit expires.)

British Airways is now introducing changes to the format of ticket numbers which are accepted by this automatic check.

From 11May09 British Airways will only recognize automated ticket formats in bookings from all GDSs. This applies to new bookings made from 11May09.

Acceptable GDS formats are;
Amadeus:
FA
FHA
FHE
Other GDS:
SSR TKNE
SSR TKNA

If tickets have been issued but cannot be entered into the PNR in one of the automated formats, your booking is at risk of cancellation. Please contact your local BA office for assistance.

PNRs without ticket numbers at the deadline are cancelled automatically. The segment status of BA flights in the booking will be changed to "HX" and sent to your queue. You must then cancel these "HX" segments.

Important information:

Please note that ticketing deadlines (number of days to ticket as per fare rules) are calculated from the PNR creation date, or the date when the first BA segment was booked in the PNR.

The GDSs may calculate these on a different basis and therefore if flights are rebooked it is recommended to create a new PNR in order to avoid possible cancellations.
