Guidelines for BA suspended London - Islamabad services update

Repatriation Assistance from Gulf Air - updated on 25 September

There is an alternative routing on Gulf Air (GF) via Bahrain available to customers who have already commenced travel of their outward sectors only.

Trave between London and Bahrain - book passengers on BA between London and Bahrain

  • Rebooked travel on British Airways must be in the same booking class or the lowest available class within the same cabin if travel is within 7 days of the original travel date
  • Rebooked travel on British Airways must be in the same booking class, if rebooked to travel outside of 7 days of the original travel date
  • No change penalties will apply if rebooked into the same class or if that is not available in the same cabin as originally booked on the passengers ticket.

 

Travel between Bahrain and Islamabad on Gulf Air

Customers may be rebooked onto Gulf Air services between Bahrain and Islamabad in the following booking classes (including redemption bookings):

- Economy Fares - V class

- WTP Fares - K class

- Business and First Class Fares - D class

- Tickets must be re-issued to include travel on Gulf Air services between Bahrain and Islamabad, and remarks updated with the following: "INVOL REROUTE DUE BA ISB CANCELLATION"

Repatriation Assistance from Pakistan International - updated

Pakistan International (PK) have agreed to assist affected BA customers by offering one-way repatriation between the UK and Pakistan. Customers are advised to contact their local Pakistan International office or ticket desk, taking with them proof of purchase of their original BA flights. This may either be their original BA tickets, itinerary, or e-ticket receipt. Pakistan International require that these be shown at the time of booking, but customers must retain their tickets in order to obtain a refund from BA.

Once customers have obtained their new Pakistan International tickets they should apply to BA or their travel agent for a refund of the value of their original BA tickets for any unused sectors.

Etihad Airways option - updated on 23 September

There are alternative routings on Etihad Airways (EY) via Abu Dhabi available to customers who have already commenced travel of their outward sectors only, as follows:

Option 1 - this is the preferred option and should always be used first

Travel on BA between London and Abu Dhabi - book passengers on BA between London and Abu Dhabi

Rebooked travel on British Airways must be in the same booking class or the lowest available class within the same cabin if travel is within 7 days of the original travel date

Rebooked travel on British Airways must be in the same booking class, if rebooked to travel outside of 7 days of the original travel date

No change penalties will apply if rebooked into the same class or if that is not available in the same cabin as originally booked on the passengers ticket.

Travel between Abu Dhabi and Islamabad on Etihad Airways

Customers may be rebooked onto Etihad services between Abu Dhabi and Islamabad in the following Etihad booking classes:

- Economy Fares - L class

- WTP Fares - W class

- Business and First Class Fares - D class

- Tickets must be re-issued to include travel on Etihad services between Abu Dhabi and Islamabad, and remarks updated with the following: "INVOL REROUTE DUE BA ISB CANCELLATION"

Option 2

Travel between London and Abu Dhabi and between Abu Dhabi and Islamabad on Etihad Airways

Customers may be rebooked onto the above EY services in the following EY booking classes:

- Economy Fares - L class

- WTP Fares - W class

- Business and First Class Fares - D class

Original guidelines may still be applied

For customers already ticketed to travel to/from Islamabad on or after 22 September who have not yet commenced their journey

Customers are covered by the general conditions of carriage.

For customers already ticketed to travel to/from Islamabad on or after 22 September and who are in mid journey:

In addition the customer may re-book to travel to/from an alternative Middle East gateway - please note:

Any additional costs incurred for travel between Islamabad and the alternative Middle East gateway will be at the passenger's own expense.
