**The British Foreign & Commonwealth Office have changed their advice for any passengers travelling to Thailand, as such the below guidelines for customers affected by the civil unrest and political tensions in Bangkok has been withdrawn with immediate effect. **
As a result of continued civil unrest and political tensions in Thailand, the FCO have advised all but essential travel to Bangkok and to observe caution in other areas of Thailand. As such the following guidelines have been issued to cover customers who hold a BA ticket to travel to / from Thailand up to and including 7th June 2010.
Customers on a through ticket either to or from Sydney are not covered by these guidelines and standard fare rules will apply.
Important: From 19th May 2010, a curfew will be imposed in Bangkok between 23:00h - 04:00h local time, as such customers due to travel from Bangkok need to ensure that they arrive at the airport before this time.
Advice for customers and agents:
1. Customers who hold a BA ticket to Thailand to travel up to and including 7th June 2010
Rebook onto an available BA flight to the same destination up to 30th June 2010. If the same booking class is not available, the lowest class available in the same cabin may be booked. This will be at no additional cost to the customer, and if required, the validity of the ticket may be extended.
or
Rebook to an alternative BA destination up to 30th June 2010, the value of the existing ticket can be used towards the purchase of the new ticket. No change fees will apply however if the fare /taxes are more expensive than the original ticket the difference will be payable by the customer. (No refunds will apply)
or
Refund - only if fare rules allow.
2. Customers who hold a BA ticket but are part way through their journey
Rebook onto the next available BA flight back to their original origin or leave earlier to continue their journey, if the same class is not available, the lowest class available in the same cabin may be booked
3. Customers who wish to bypass Thailand as a stop-over may
Rebook their journey, remove Thailand as a stop-over and continue to the next ticketed destination point e.g) LHR-BKK, stop for 2 days, then on to SYD, you can remove the stopover. If the same class is not available then the lowest class in the same cabin may be booked.
Note: Please ensure all your bookings that you are rebooking yourself that you input the below into your tickets endorsement box. British Airways will not issue any ADMs for any reissues or refunds actioned according to above Commercial Policy.
Bookings affected by the civil unrest in BKK may rebook/reissue and refund accordingly(on BA only, rebooking and reissues onto other carriers are not permitted). Please ensure the following remarks are inputted into the endorsement box for reissuing of the ticket: INVOL RBKD CIVIL UNREST BKK POLICY APPLD.
Rebooking options: The information above covers only customers holding a ticket on a British Airways operated flight and issued on British Airways 125 ticket stock. If a customer has a segment on British Airways that was issued on another carrier's ticket stock you must contact the issuing carrier. |
