Guidelines - Changes to summer 09 schedule

The changes to the summer 09 schedule are split into 3 separate sections:

1. BA has withdrawn the route with no reaccommodation

2. Flight has been cancelled and customers are re-accommodated onto an alternative service; and

3. Flight has been cancelled with no re-accommodation.

Route Withdrawal

British Airways it is to withdraw services to the following destinations with effect from 29 March 2009

  • Heathrow to Dhaka S09 and W09
  • Heathrow to Calcutta S09 and W09
  • Gatwick to Zurich S09 and W09
  • Gatwick to Geneva S09 ONLY
  • BA7/ 8 to/from Tokyo S09 and W09

NB. Where possible Zurich and Geneva customers will be reaccommodated onto services out of Heathrow

Advice for customers

Customers in possession of a ticket who are booked to travel on British Airways services to the destinations above for a travel date on or after 29 March 2009 are covered by the following guidelines:

  • Rebook onto an available British Airways flight to the same destination prior to 29 March 2009. If the same booking class is not available, the next lowest class may be booked within the same cabin. This will be at no additional cost to the customer.

or

  • Refund the ticket purchased to the original form of payment.

Flight has been cancelled and customers are re-accommodated onto an alternative service

Advice for customers

Customers in possession of a ticket for whom the alternative flight is not suitable are covered by the following guidelines:

  • Rebook onto an available British Airways flight to the same destination within a 3-day period before or after the scheduled departure time of the original flight. If the same booking class is not available, the next lowest class may be booked within the same cabin. This will be at no additional cost to the customer, and if required, the validity of the ticket may be extended.

or

  • Rebook onto a British Airways flight to the same destination at a later date in the same booking class and cabin. The flight must be re-booked and travel must take place within the validity of the original ticket purchased. This will be at no additional cost to the customer.

or

  • Refund the ticket purchased to the original form of payment.

NB - If the customers ticket includes a transfer to/from another service and is no longer within MCT, the above options above may also be used to rebook the transfer service.

Advice for customers

Customers in possession of a ticket who's flight has been cancelled and no alternative booked are covered by the following guidelines:

  • Rebook onto an available British Airways flight to the same destination within a 3-day period before or after the scheduled departure time of the original flight. If the same booking class is not available, the next lowest class may be booked within the same cabin. This will be at no additional cost to the customer, and if required, the validity of the ticket may be extended.

or

  • Rebook onto a British Airways flight to the same destination at a later date in the same booking class and cabin. The flight must be re-booked and travel must take place within the validity of the original ticket purchased. This will be at no additional cost to the customer.

or

  • Refund the ticket purchased to the original form of payment.

NB - If the customers ticket includes a transfer to/from another service and is no longer within MCT, the above options above may also be used to rebook the transfer service.

 

Customers who have commenced their journey to/from Calcutta

  • Customers who have commenced their journey and who's return flight has been cancelled may be rebooked to/from alternative British Airways gateway in India (BLR/BOM/DEL)
  • Transport between the alternative BA gateway and Calcutta must be at customers own expense
  • Book the lowest class available in the same cabin on the same day of travel (as originally booked between CCU-LHR) or in the same class as original travel on an alternative date.

 

There is now an additional option for customers due to return from Calcutta/Dhaka who have commenced their journey and their return flight has been cancelled.

Customers who have commenced their journey to/from Calcutta or Dhaka
Customers who have commenced their journey and whose return flight has been cancelled may be rebooked via Bahrain on Gulf Air as outlined below.

  • Rebooking is only applicable to customers who were due to return from either Calcutta or Dhaka between 30 March and 10 November 2009 whose flight has been cancelled.
  • Rebook on Gulf Air between Calcutta and Bahrain / Dhaka and Bahrain within 3 days of the original date of travel as follows:
    - Economy - rebook into V class
    - Business - rebook into D class
  • Rebook the BA sector, BAH - LON in the lowest class available in the same cabin as the original booking within 3 days of the original date of travel.

This is applicable to passengers who have commenced their journey and their return flight is cancelled from London to Calcutta/Dhaka.
